Ben Meadows More than forty years ago, a young forester
named Ben Meadows became increasingly frustrated with the
difficulties forestry professionals encountered in obtaining
field equipment. It was often necessary to go to a variety of
sources to find what he needed.
Ben solved the problem by
founding a company to supply foresters and engineers with the
finest equipment available. His good name was all that he had
back in 1956, so he named the business after himself.

Georgia Forestry
Association,
one of the oldest conservation organizations in the United
States, was founded in 1907. At that time, tree farming was a
family tradition. Land was passed from generation to generation
and with it, a love of the land that became our heritage.
Through the years, GFA has worked with landowners in protecting
their property rights and adopting sound land management
practices to ensure that our forests continue to provide clean
air, clean water, soil conservation, wildlife habitat,
recreation and products that we all use every day.

The
Georgia Forestry Commission provides leadership,
service, and education in the protection and conservation of
Georgia's forest resources so that healthy, sustainable forests
will produce clean air, clean water and abundant products.
