Representative Richard Royal to
Speak at GFA Regional Forestry Meeting in Valdosta
On Tuesday, August 19, from 6:00 -
8:30 PM, the Georgia Forestry Association will hold its Valdosta
Regional Meeting at Kinderlou Forest. This event will mark GFA's
3rd regional meeting of the year. The GFA regional meeting is an
excellent opportunity to stay current with Association news,
gain valuable educational experience, or just catch up with old
friends in forestry.

Governor Sonny Perdue Announces
Robert Farris as Executive Director of the Georgia Forestry
Commission
On
August 6, Governor
Sonny Perdue announced Robert Farris as the Director of
the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC). The GFC provides
leadership, service, and education in protection, management,
and wise use of Georgia's forest resources. The Director is
responsible for all programs of the state forestry agency
including oversight of all personnel. The GFC has 675 employees
and an annual budget of approximately $40 million. The
commission board approved Farris, upon recommendation from
Governor Perdue.
