Georgia Tree Farm Inspectors Honored |
|
On March 6, 2008, at the Georgia Tree Farm Program annual spring business meeting and awards ceremony, State Chair, Ed Withrow honored several Tree Farm inspectors by presenting certificates of appreciation and plaques based on their 2007 accomplishments. "The real strength of the Tree Farm program is the inspectors who meet, work with, and guide Tree Farmers in their forest management decisions", Withrow acknowledges. "It is important to me, as State Chair, that [inspectors] know [their] work is not taken for granted. The awards we are presenting today are in recognition of the great accomplishments each inspector has done in 2007."
Georgia Forestry Commission Senior Forester Mark Wiles of Elberton was recognized as the 2007 Outstanding Inspector of the Year. Mark completed more new Tree Farm inspections than any other inspector in the state and is a constant supporter of the program. Phillip Exley with Weyerhaeuser of Oglethorpe was honored as Region Chair of the Year. Gregg Jameson with the Georgia Forestry Commission received the District Chair of the Year award.
