Georgia Forestry Association to Host Regional Meeting in Dublin
On Thursday, June 4, from 6:00 - 8:30 PM, the Georgia Forestry Association will hold its Dublin Regional Meeting at the Cloverleaf Restaurant. This event will mark GFA's 3rd regional meeting of the year. The GFA regional meeting is an excellent opportunity to stay current with Association news, gain valuable educational experience, or just catch up with old friends in forestry.

Several excellent speakers are scheduled to speak at the meeting. Kevin Malone will provide attendees with news and updates about the GFA Young Professionals group. The YP is an active group in GFA, quickly becoming one of GFA's most valuable volunteer resources. Kevin's presentation will acquaint you with this emerging group in Georgia Forestry.

Jesse Johnson is a frequent contributor to Georgia Forestry Today magazine. He has written articles on forestland aesthetics, thinning, mapping, and more. His presentation will focus on understanding forestland as an economic asset. We will draw on his work and research experience to cover a variety of areas where forestland value can be enhanced.

Since the Forest Land Protection Act was voted into law in 2008, landowners have wanted to gather as much information as they could about it. Vicki Lambert, Director of the Property Tax Division for Georgia's Department of Revenue, will give a presentation detailing the different aspects of FLPA and will answer questions for meeting attendees.

The Georgia Forestry Association welcomes any forest stakeholder in the area to attend the Wilkes County meeting. Alva Hopkins, Director of Communications at GFA, asks anyone who wishes to attend to RSVP by emailing him at alva@gfagrow.org or calling 478-992-8110.
