Georgia Forestry Association to Host Regional Meeting in Valdosta
|
|
On Thursday, August 20, from 6:00 - 8:30 PM, the Georgia Forestry Association will hold its Valdosta Regional Meeting at Kinderlou Forest. This event will mark GFA's 4th regional meeting of the year. The GFA regional meeting is an excellent opportunity to stay current with Association news, gain valuable educational experience, or just catch up with old friends in forestry.
Two excellent speakers are scheduled to speak at the meeting. The first is John Ramey, Manager, Valley Carbon, Valley Wood. Valley Wood offers land owners a new source of revenue from their managed forest lands through carbon sequestration projects, and they are a certified offset aggregator for the Chicago Climate Exchange. John Ramey will discuss various opportunities for landowners in this area.
Next, we'll hear from Dr. Jeffery Wright, Manager, Product Development, ArborGen LLC. Jeff Wright has been with ArborGen for over five years and is currently responsible for developing eucalypt plantations within the Southern US for pulp and biomass. His presentation, Eucalypt Plantation Potential, will pull from his experiences working in eucalypt plantations in South Africa, Colombia, and more than 20 other countries
The Georgia Forestry Association welcomes any forest stakeholder in the area to attend the Valdosta meeting. Alva Hopkins, Director of Communications at GFA, asks anyone who wishes to attend to RSVP by emailing him at alva@gfagrow.org or calling 478-992-8110.
Founded in 1907, the Georgia Forestry Association is Georgia's oldest conservation organization and the leading advocate for forestry in the state of Georgia.
