Regional Water Meetings Conclude for 2009
As the year draws to an end, the regional water councils have completed their fourth and final meetings for 2009. Based on water resource assessments and regional forecasts for water demand, the eleven councils ultimately will determine preferred water management practices to meet each region's future water resources needs. This material will be featured in regional water plans, which must be submitted to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division in initial form by January 31, 2011 and final form by June 30, 2011.

The Georgia Forestry Association has continued its involvement in the process by attending as many meetings as possible as well as encouraging its members to do the same. GFA is in the process of creating a strategy for 2010 to ensure that the needs of forestry are represented in each council's plan.
