2010 GFF Photo Contest


You could win $500 just for taking a photo that depicts forestry or the forest products industry!

Dig out your best photographs now for the 2010 Georgia Forestry Foundation Photo Contest! The theme of this year's contest is Learning Through the Lens. We're looking for amazing images of Georgia's forests and the wildlife they support - photos that tell the story of the beauty and benefits of Georgia's woodlands. Your winning photographs could earn you prizes and recognition - even a grand prize!

Please submit entries for one, some, or all of the following categories:

Habitat - Natural scenes including, but not limited to trees, forest settings, rivers, etc.

Wildlife - All living creatures native to Georgia; no pets, domesticated animals, and animals in captivity.

Family - Family members engaged in outdoor activity ~ please specify the family members' relationships: Uncle and Nephew, Grandmother and Granddaughter, etc.

Capture the essence of the forest products industry and you could win cash! Be creative! First place, and runners up will be chosen from each category including our young photographers' competition.

First Place Winner = $500
1st Place Young Photographer = $250
Runners up = $100

What to send: All entries must include:

  • An entry fee of only $10.00 should accompany submissions in each category, but you can submit up to three photos in a single category.
  • The photos must be submitted digitally (jpg, tif, etc.)
  • File size may not exceed 6 megabytes, minimum of 300 dpi.
  • One sentence caption to include where, when, and by whom the photo was taken and what the photo shows
  • Each photo must be marked with the entrant's name, address, phone number, and category to which the entry belongs

Contest Rules:

1. All entries must be postmarked by April 30, 2010
2. Winners will be notified by May 28, 2010
3. All materials submitted will become property of the Georgia Forestry Association - though you may still use the photos any way you like
4. There is a limit of three(3) total photographs per entrant
5. Each image must be the work or property of the person submitting the images. Entrants under the age of 18 must submit a release form from a parent or guardian
6. Each entrant must read and sign an entry form/release.
7. Entries will be evaluated on the basis of appeal, content, and photographic skill
8. Incomplete entries will be disqualified from judging
9. Current employees of the Georgia Forestry Association and their families are not eligible to win prizes
10. Photos may be displayed at the 2010 Annual Meeting, on GFAgrow.org, and in Georgia Forestry Today.
11. Georgia residents only. Photos must be taken in Georgia.
12. Photographers who derive income from their photography may participate as long as they do not derive more than 20% of their income from photography.
13. The Georgia Forestry Foundation reserves the right not to award all prize monies in the event competition administrators receive an insufficient number of eligible entries that meet the minimum criteria as set forth as part of the competition guidelines.
